I'm keeping this entry short like a Fr. Moe homily:
This has been a great day. Over the course of this summer I have experienced more than what is normally considered to be the average person's number of great days. From beautiful hikes in Maine to cruising through gorgeous Vermont; from riding the Kingda Ka at Six Flags to riding the ocean swells in a 13-foot metal canoe... this summer has been a continuous adventure. But today was a wonderful day still.
I picked up Fiona around 4-ish and we saw Much Ado About Nothing. Then we went to Gandor Mountain in Kingston and I bought a new paddle. I'm taking the same 13-foot Grumman to school and I'll need a way to get it around. We got back into town, grabbed some Chinese food and met up with Joe, Sarah and Melissa. We caught up and hung out and I got to say goodbye to four of my dearest friends. It doesn't get much better than that.
Tomorrow morning I take off for the far north. I'm ready. I'm set. Not nervous, not sad, not excited, not much of anything. But I'm ready. And soon enough, I'll be glad to see my other home. If, as Tom O'Dowd observes, "nothing says New Paltz like one light out on the Shop Rite sign" then nothing says Oswego like the twin exhaust towers that guide you to campus.
Alright, cool. Farewell my friends. I'll see you all in OZ.
